Website

The Tipperary Peace Convention was founded in 1984 to recognise those who promote the ideals of peace and peaceful co-operation both in Ireland and abroad. Each year the Convention honours one individual with the Tipperary International Peace Award for their outstanding contribution to peace. I was tasked with creating a website and visual identity that reflected these values and themes while providing a modern and accessible way for visitors to explore the Convention’s history.

Logo Design & Visual Language

The convention logo features an icon of a dove in front of a globe outline, symbolising the international reach of the Peace Award and the Tipperary Peace Convention. A palette of soft blues and greens gives the site a calm, global feel, while typography is set in Archivo and Nunito Sans for clarity and readability. Circular design elements appear throughout, from award winner profile images to subtle layout accents, echoing the shape of the globe.

Features & Functionality

  • Awards Page: A filterable grid of all award winners, searchable by their country of origin or by award year.
  • About Page: Includes animated icons representing the Convention’s values: Recognition, Dialogue, Inspiration, Transformation.
  • Bio Pages: Dedicated profiles for each winner, complete with a captioned image gallery of their award ceremony.
  • News Section: Updates on upcoming events and future award recipients.

Character & Personality

Archive photography supplied by the client captures the history of each award ceremony. On the about page minimal illustrations convey the mission of the organisation, and a set of micro animations in the values section adds subtle movement and emphasis without distracting from the content.

Accessibility & Communication

The site is fully responsive for desktop, tablet, and mobile. Each page features a clear contact call-to-action to get in touch, with contact details in the footer. Cards for posts and award winners bios are fully clickable for easy navigation, and all text and colour combinations are chosen for readability.

Tipperary Peace Convention: The Result

The finished website tells the story of the Tipperary Peace Convention and the Tipperary Peace Award, from its founding mission to the present day. It provides a lasting platform to honour past recipients, share the values of the organisation, and keep the public informed about future award winners and convention dates.

From the website launch speech by Martin Quinn, Committee Member of the Tipperary Peace Convention:

“It is the unveiling of a space — a platform — where the values we hold dear are made visible to the world. A place where the voices of those who have dedicated their lives to peace, justice, and human dignity will be preserved, celebrated, and shared far beyond these borders. Since its inception, the Tipperary Peace Convention has stood for something greater than ceremony. It has been a voice — sometimes a lone voice — speaking with clarity in times of confusion, and with compassion in times of cruelty.”

I am honoured to have been chosen to design this website and identity for such a long standing and important organisation.
